Author talk: Alan Dein on Candy, Andy and the Bearandas

Saturday, 2nd March, 2-3pm

picture of Candy, Andy, a Bearanda, and a striped Mini car.Historian and broadcaster Alan Dein will give a fascinating illustrated talk about Candy, Andy and the Bearandas – the little known, and bizarre comic-book creation from the Gerry Anderson stable, famous for their hit television shows Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet.

Candy, Andy and their panda bear parents lived in the quintessential English village, and that village was Flamstead: the photography depicts locations around the village and local residents of that time.

Come along for a fun and informative talk about the strange world of Candy and Andy, set in and around Flamstead in the late 1960s. The talk will be followed by Q&A with the audience and a spot the village location competition to win a copy* of Alan’s new book Candy, Andy and the Bearandas.

*one lucky winner who can identify the most locations will win a copy of the book.

A poster for the event can be downloaded from here.

But how does Flamstead connect to the story of Candy and Andy? Alan Dein explains here.
