Matt Champion, independent scholar.

A report on the exciting discoveries made during his recent survey of the graffiti, and their significance.

It’s an opportunity to find out about the ancient graffiti in St Leonard’s church in Flamstead. Could the marks be linked to witchcraft? What can they tell us about our ancestors in the village since Medieval times?  Historian and Archaeologist Matt Champion has carried out a detailed survey and will shine new light on the signs inscribed over the centuries. He has made some remarkable discoveries which show for the first time how extensive and important the collection of graffiti is.
