Have you ever puzzled over why St Leonard’s has such an extensive series of wall paintings, and what they mean? This talk will examine how they were made and by whom, their differing dates, meaning and function, and will consider their relationship with the important paintings at St Albans Cathedral.

Dr Pridgeon lectures in the history of art and architecture at the Universities of Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge. She has published widely on medieval and post-Reformation wall painting, and is currently researching a book on St Christopher imagery. https://medievalwallpaintings.wordpress.com

All are welcome: refreshments provided. There is no charge, but donations are invited: please give generously. All donations go to the Flamstead Heritage Campaign to save our wonderful church.
