1. Online (digital) Content containing Personal Data
Notice and takedown policy
After initial verification of a data-privacy complaint, it is the Flamstead Heritage’s policy to suspend online access to the online content in question immediately – providing the request is valid under the relevant legislation and the data subject has verified his or her identity.

Notice and takedown procedure
Flamstead Heritage has made all reasonable efforts to ensure that consent from those whose personal data may be featured in its online published material, including its archival collections, has been obtained in compliance with its obligations under the UK’s data protection legislation, namely the UK GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you believe that online publication and access to your personal data in the online records infringes your data privacy rights, you may request that the content is taken down from our website or other places we publish material online.
You may also request that material about you is taken down from our website by invoking your “right to be forgotten”.
Please note that “Archiving in the Public Interest” may provide an exemption to the right to erasure, to object, and to restrict processing.
Your takedown request must be in writing and include the following information:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- The website address (or equivalent) where you found the content.
- A description that clearly identifies the content in question and includes a unique reference number or unique identifier, if available.
- The nature of your request regarding this content.
- A copy of a document proving your identity such as the “photograph” page of a passport or a driving licence.
- Send your request and ID by post to Flamstead Heritage, c/o St Leonard’s PCC, Parish Office, St John’s Church, Markyate, Hertfordshire, AL3 8PY, U.K. or by email to contact@flamsteadheritage.org.
Your request will be acknowledged normally within 5 working days of receipt.
Upon receipt of your request, we will validate both your request and your ID to check that we have all the information we need.
After validation, we will immediately take down the content from our website (or equivalent) while we investigate the matter further.
During our investigation, we will examine your takedown request and reach a decision about whether the content should remain on our website (or other medium). If we agree, and approve your request, we will confirm the removal of the data from our website/medium and check whether this has any implications for any original source material from which the material was derived. If your request is denied, we will reinstate the content on our website/medium. In both instances, we will record our decision and advise you of the outcome.
The information you provide in your written request will be used only in connection with this enquiry and in accordance with the Flamstead Heritage’s privacy policy.
2. Online (digital) Content subject to Copyright
Notice and takedown procedure
Flamstead Heritage has made all reasonable efforts to establish the copyright holders of the material published on this website or other places where we publish material, so that their permission for publication can be secured. However, much of the material is historic for which the copyright status is unknown, or the copyright owners are unknown or impossible to trace.
If you consider that any materials are your copyright and can provide supporting documentation, please contact us so that we may credit the materials properly, license them, or remove them.
Your request must be in writing and include the following information:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- The website address (or equivalent location or publication) where you found the content.
- A description that clearly identifies the content in question and includes a unique reference number or unique identifier, if available.
- The nature of your request regarding this content.
- A copy of a document proving your ownership of the copyright, e.g. as the original author.
- Send your request and supporting documentation by post to Flamstead Heritage, c/o St Leonard’s PCC, Parish Office, St John’s Church, Markyate, Hertfordshire, AL3 8PY, U.K. or by email to contact@flamsteadheritage.org.
Your request will be acknowledged normally within 5 working days of receipt.

The information you provide in your written request will be used only in connection with this enquiry and in accordance with Flamstead Heritage’s privacy policy.
3. Other Content & Other Rights
For non-digital content, e.g. print or display materials and in respect of other Intellectual Property Rights, similar processes apply. Please contact us as above. If appropriate, any affected materials will be withdrawn while the matter is being investigated.
